Alternate Air Source

Objective: 

 SAfely ascend to the surface with your buddy's alternate air source.

Value: 

 In the unfortuante event you or your buddy should run low on or out of air, this is the skill you'll use to both get home safely.

Steps to Perform: 
  1. Signal Out of Air
  2. Reach for and Secure your buddy's Alternate Air Source [usually in the triangle between their neck and hips]
  3. Look at and ensure the regulator is right side up [upside down regulators often breath very wet]
  4. Purge the regulator slightly to ensure yourself that it has air
  5. Remove your regulator from your mouth and place the alternate in your mouth
  6. Clear the alternate regulator
  7. With your right hand, firmly grasp your buddy's BCD [usually holding a buckle]
  8. With your left hand signal OK
  9. Now with your left hand, elevate your BCD inflator hose and prepare to let air out of your BCD as you ascend
  10. [Ascent] Look up, swim up and receiver needs to practice orally inflating their BCD on the surface
