Neutral Buoyancy: Fin Pivot
Objective:
- Be able to demonstrate neutral buoyancy by raising and lowering your body through breathing
Value:
The value of neutral buoyancy is that you are able to avoid contacting other divers, coral or other objects while also minimizing your effort in moving through the water.
Steps to Perform:
- Completely empty your BCD of air
- Lay face down & flat on the bottom of the pool [or training line in open water]
- Add three short bursts of air to your BCD
- Breath in deeply
- If you slowly start to rise, breath out
- If you do nothing, add another short burst of air
- if you rise too quickly, deflate your BCD and try again starting with less air
5. Breath out
- You should start to sink back to the bottom
