Proper Weighting

Objective:

To correctly weight your self to minimize overwork and maximize enjoyment.

Value:

Being proerly weighted makes you the most natural in teh water and dramatically reduces much of the difficulty around achieving neutral buoyancy.

Steps to Perform:

At the surface, while holding a normal breath, and with a fully deflated BCD, you should be able to float at eye level in the water.
During your Open Water dives you may have more weight on than eventually necessary to assist you with practicing skills.
You want to add or remove weight in SMALL increments [no more than 2 lbs per dive].
