Remove and Replace Weights Underwater

Objective: 

 To safely remove and repace your weights while remaining underwater

Value: 

 In the unlikely event you get caught in something underwater and are unable to free yourself without removing your weights, this skill will come in handy.

Steps to Perform: 
  1. Deflate your BCD completely
  2. Keep your regulator in your mouth at all times
  3. Lay face down, flat against the bottom
  4. Using your right hand, release your weight belt buckle
  5. Now with your right hand, hold the non-buckle end of your weight belt on your right thigh [hip is too high, it will wrap around your tank]
  6. Roll your whole body to the left away from where your weight belt is laying on the ground [this will wrap your weight belt around you after one barrel roll]
  7. Keep rolling until the weight belt is around your thighs
  8. Slide the belt up over your bum to your waist
  9. While facing the ground, use both hands to rebuckle the belt
  10. Adjust as necessary while facing the ground [this keeps the belt from sliding off or down, sitting up only makes it worse]
